Notes
"Departure Lounge may sound too good to have been left off Scare's LP but - heck- that just shows how fine an electropop record it'll be. Co-written with our sometime keyboard wiz Guy'atsoz' Batson and Republica's chief reconteur Johnny Male. Came out on a Melody Maker tape last year." (Bob Stanley 1997)

"Any memories of writing songs with my Windsor cohort Johnny Male and Slough's finest Pete Smith seem to involve an eagerness to get to the pub at our earliest convenience. Hence I have very little memory of writing the song at all. Who is the mystery vocalist who appears towards the end of the track? Someone we met down the pub? Or is it Smithy in fine voice? I would also like to apologise to Smithy on behalf of the band for putting the wrong writing credit on the original Valentines Day '97 sleeve! Tut tut!" (Sarah Cracknell 2007)

"Departure Lounge: Aaaah, a splendid afternoon spent with Johnny at the ever charming Pete Smith's house lead to the recording of this song. Something tells me we finished early to nip to the pub after the recording session. I remember a funny time when Pete, myself, Jez Williams and some guy called Kofi (a percussionist who couldn't keep time as I recall) flew to Japan to do a gig and some promo for 'Lipslide' Smithy and Jez got a little over excited on the plane on the way over and I believe the phrase is, peaked too soon!! During the gig the next evening Smithy's backing vocals on Anymore, which had sounded so lovely in rehearsal, now sounded like he's had his larynx removed. We were not invited back." (Sarah Cracknell 2011)
